Hi Everyone! My name is Sophie (but you can call me Soph), and I’m a new contributor for the LCC helping out with fashion posts and a few other things here and there! I’m so excited to be bringing you a little bit of my style and thoughts on fashion. Overall, I think fashion should be really unique, fun, and a form of creative self expression. I hope my posts will inspire you in some way or another to use fashion in this way. I’m totally open to suggestions on posts too so comment with any requests! Okay, it’s time! My first post! Here it is!
Drawing attention to your neck has been an ongoing trend for quite some time now with the high mock necklines on shirts and dresses, the thick choker band necklaces, layering all your neck jewelry and wearing them at once, etc. They’ve even come out with gold and silver temporary flash tatoos made to look like layered neck jewels. This summer people really took on this trend and began sporting paisley bandanas around their necks (ya know, perfectly tying that knot and positioning it ever so slightly to the side for that flight attendant look but much more american and cool?). It was a fun touch to play up your denim cutoffs and tanks for those summer barbecues or outdoor adventures. But what do we do now that it’s basically fall?!
Well, what I happily realized is that there are an infinite amount of ways you can play with bandanas and scarfs to make your outfit way more interesting. The below images show just a few ways I’ll be sporting the trend with items in my wardrobe.
Bandana as a choker.
Bandana or silk scarf folded in half and secured in the back.
70’s skinny scarf worn loose.
70’s skinny scarf as a choker. Secure in back and hide the ends underneath a sweater.
(Wear in solid black if you’re feeling like channeling Gigi Hadid or Kendall Jenner for the day.)
You can even get more creative by wearing multiple scarves or bandanas, wearing the bandana choker with delicately layered necklaces, or tying a bandana around your wrist. I’ve shown you a few more additional ways to creatively wear these items like tying the bandana in your hair to dress up a messy bun on a bad hair day and tying your silk scarf around your bag instead of your neck.
On your bag..
In your hair..
The possibilities for wearing these bandanas or scarfs are endless! (If you really wanna see a million ways to wear them, check out Refinery 29’s article here. It’s an incredibly easy way to take your outfit from drab to fab (yes I just said that… but it’s true!) Show your creativity and comment or tag the LCC with ways you’re wearing a bandana or neck scarf, we wanna see!
