Did you catch that we bought our first house?! Guys, being a homeowner is so fun. Well, most days. If I were to be typing this last month I would’ve been rolling my eyes at that statement because of a big appliance purchase we had to make. Ha! Oh the ups and downs of homeownership!
But, alas, the fun part; decorating and making this house a home!
One of the first spaces I couldn’t wait to get ahold of was our front porch. One, because it was completely finished (building wise) and just needed my loving touch. And two, because I’ve never had a front porch that was on a bottom level to decorate! It’s so fun! In fact, we had chairs and plants on our front porch before we had a bed frame. I kid you not.
For our Fall front porch, I mixed things I already owned with some new finds from Homegoods, Home Depot, and some local decor shops. I really love the mixture of old and new! There were two vignettes that needed some love; the steps and then this little sitting area. Eventually I’d love to have one of those cute bench swings that dreams are made of in this space… Oh I can already see me rocking sweet little baby Colton, waving to the neighbors… But for now, I put out these wicker chairs I already had.
For summer we had big bushy hanging ferns, but y’all those are the hardest things to keep alive. When it was time to redecorate for fall, these hanging baskets from Home Depot were already mixed and ready to go. Heck, that makes life easier, plus I was digging that they were already moody and Halloween-ish.
Lastly, I added new pillows and a perfect sign from a local shop called Attics Of My Life. I can already picture this as the perfect place to add Christmas signs and decor too! I love how it balances out the sitting area. Plus it’s really an eye-catcher!
Another one of my fall front porch must-haves? Mums! My mom instantly laughed at me when she came over to take a look because growing up I always told her mums were ugly. It’s true, I really despised them as a kid. (Don’t ask me why!) They are fall perfection, though. And come in so many sizes and colors! I like to throw them in different buckets and boxes to mix up the textures on our fall front porch.
Lastly, you can’t forget the pumpkins! I always suggest layering different sizes, shapes and colors. There are really a lot of cool different variations when it comes to pumpkin patches these days! Get creative and have fun with it! We picked ours up from a local place, The Snowball Stand in Ocean Pines.
Have you decorated your front porch yet? Are you decorating for fall or for Halloween?
