Beauty Encounters, Volume 04.

Has it been a really tough week for anyone else? It’s been a week full of screaming, crying, and sleepless nights over here. Sometimes when that’s what it comes to, this little blog seems so far away. What am I writing for? Who am I writing for? Am I really wasting all of this time doing this thing called “blogging?” You might wonder why I’m going on this little rant when obviously I should be talking about these beauty products pictured above. Well y’all, you have to wait out the rain to see the rainbow.

I was shopping for groceries last night and a stranger came up to be a gushed all sorts of compliments about how she loved reading my blog. I literally started sobbing. Yep, picture this girl sobbing in the middle of the grocery store… because that happened. It truly made it all come to perspective for me. I was feeling so overwhelmed and burnt out, and constantly asking why I was doing this blog if it was just stressing me out. I quickly have come to realize that I share things on this blog with you because I love content creating and I love interacting with you all. If one person buys one of these beauty products that I talk about in this review then my job here is done.

So let’s talk about these beauty products, shall we?

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

For a long time I couldn’t figure out why my makeup wasn’t staying on my face. I would go out somewhere, look in the mirror and it would scare me. Ha! I went straight to Sephora and asked them what the hell was going on. Their suggestion was to start using a setting powder (duh, why didn’t I know that?!) and Laura Mercier’s was their first pick.  I’ve been using it now for probably 4 months. I love it! It’s pricier, but in the past four months I’ve only had to replace it once.

Pixi H20 Skindrink

You might recognize this product as I’ve talked about it in my past Pixi Beauty review. I wanted to bring it up in this post because I’m STILL using this product religiously. It leaves my skin extremely hydrated, and instantly dries so that I can follow by applying foundation. It also feels great going on, super refreshing and awakening!

Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go (c/o)

So I talked about Pixi’s Glow Tonic in the last edition of Beauty Encounters. I wanted to mention it here because they recently sent me these to-go wipes and I’m obsessed. Even as great as a product the Glow Tonic is, I was still forgetting to apply a toner daily. These to-go wipes make it super easy to add into my routine! I can also travel easily with them, as well as carry them in my purse.

Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick (c/o)

I haven’t been totally in love with a lot of Pixi’s lip products. Call me crazy. But with that being said, I do really like these babies. They are great neutral colors that apply really smooth and sink into your lips to make them look a little more natural. I’ll be keeping these on hand for sure! Pictured above from left to right are the shades Petal Pink, Rose Naturelle, and Bitten Rose.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Last but not least, let’s talk about mascara. I’m working on a full post all about the most popular mascaras on the market right now, but until then I wanted to review Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara. I feel like when this first came out it was a huge deal. But, there’s always another mascara on the verge of popularity and I think this one became a little underrated. I really like how full it makes my lashes! I layer this on top of It Cosmetic’s Superhero. That is my go-to mascara duo!
