Hey everyone, it’s your favorite Beauty Editor, Emilie! It’s been a little while but I’m happy to report that I am officially back and settled in London for a new school year! Today I’m sending some European flair across the Atlantic—this post is all about the London Fashion Week Burberry Prorsum SS16 Ready-To-Wear show. (If you haven’t seen it, take a look at this.) As a Libra, I’m constantly trying to find the perfect balance between all sorts of polar opposites. I love how fashion and beauty can walk the line between feminine and masculine, hard and soft, and light and dark. This show did just that. The girls look stunning and strong. They’re showing cleavage and leg but they’re wearing those crazy-appealing “don’t mess with me” mugs. Burberry makeup artist, Wendy Rowe under the creative direction of Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Bailey, developed the makeup looks for this show. While the makeup varies and the entire line represents SS16, I’m focusing on the shots that feature dark lips and strong brows. This look is simple to achieve but it screams cool and it couldn’t be more appropriate for fall time.
I tested out my take on Wendy Rowe’s look on my lovely model Kayla (check out her new website here!) I kept the skin fresh just by moisturizing and blending concealer underneath her eyes, around her nose, and on her chin. For her brows I combed them up pretty aggressively with a spoolie and used a heavy hand to fill in the entire brow with a brown eyebrow pencil. To finish off, I went in with a tinted serum to lock the hairs in place and darken them up a bit more. For her lips I over-lined and filled in with a dark purple liner pencil and added just a touch of red gloss right in the center to add some depth and shine. What do you think, will you try this at home?
