A Rustic Farmhouse Dinner Party

I ended out last semester with one of my favorite projects that I’ve done here at SCAD for our Contemporary Issues In Fashion course. The final was a group project where we had to create a sustainable and recycled product for a company with only $25. We made these placemats for West Elm and went all out in order to create a catalog based around our product. You can see the project here, but I wanted to share with you today our dinner party we “hosted.”

We ultimately had the dream team together on this project; which included our very own Fashion & Beauty Editor, Sophie, our Lifestyle Editor, Katie, along with Harrison as the photographer and of course myself. Katie’s parents own a home on Palmetto Bluff that we shot in. It’s an absolutely gorgeous farmhouse with wood beam ceilings and possibly the most stunning kitchen I’ve ever seen.

For the tablescape we knew we needed to show off our placemats so we found a matching burlap runner (in the $1 section of Target, but you could easily DIY these too) that reflected perfectly the rustic feeling we were going for. I grabbed three stems of Hydrangeas as well as some Green Hypericum berries for the florals from our local flower market. The table started with the tall arrangement in the center and then we decided to place some berries in each of the terrariums. Lastly I brought my mom’s vintage brass candlesticks to add more height. Keep reading to find the recipes for what we served and tune in tomorrow to find out how to make some placemats of your own!
