In school there were obvious consequences to not doing your work. I’m a very competitive person, so art school naturally drove me to be very motivated and schedule oriented. Plus, running a full-time blog on top of the school work forced me to figure out a routine that worked for me. Now that I’m adjusting to post-grad life, starting my own business, and running this little corner of the internet, my mind is always going 100 different ways. I found that things that I could previously remember were getting forgotten or lost. Not to mention, my personal and mental health was struggling too. With so much on my plate and no way to balance it all, I was constantly getting sick, headaches, and even not wanting to get out of bed in the mornings. About 3 months later now, I’ve finally figured out something that works for me. Keep reading to find out the simple things I do in my day to stay organized and productive as my own boss, as well as more about the delicious new Centrum MultiGummies I’ve added into my routine!
Find a morning schedule and stick to it.
My biggest adjustment after school was that I didn’t have a class and professor expecting me to get up in the morning. I found myself sleeping in a lot, which was causing me to get absolutely nothing done! I was even feeling more tired throughout my day.
To fix this, I started getting up and going to the gym in the morning. I go between 9-10, sometimes going for a jog even earlier. This gives me something to look forward to, as well as making me feel more active throughout the day.
Another part of my morning routine is taking my Centrum® MultiGummies®. I found these at my local Walmart and decided to try them because they were a great option for men and women. Centrum ® MultiGummies ® contain three natural flavors: Berry, Cherry, and Orange. I take all of the berry ones, and Harrison likes the cherry. It’s a win-win. Centrum ® MultiGummies are gluten-free and have no artificial flavors or sweeteners. These multi-benefit multivitamins include 100% or more of essential nutrients, Vitamins B12, D, and E. B-vitamins to help support daily energy needs.* B Vitamins aid in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins.* Antioxidants such as Vitamins C, E and Zinc help support normal immune function.* So many great benefits and they taste great too!
Decide on your favorite planner and only use one.
So many of my friends have like three different planners for all different aspects of their life. Um, what?! Some people also use both digital and physical planners. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with this, but I just don’t understand how you keep everything straight if you’re constantly shuffling between books, calendars, etc. I decided this year to find one large planner that I loved. I keep my personal, business, and blog deadlines all in one place. This helps me relate my time to different things, not forget that I have something scheduled for a certain time, and just stay organized. Catch down below for some of my favorite planners for 2017!
Set aside designated time for yourself, your friends and family, and your significant other.
I recently talked about our tips for working with your significant other, but it’s important to remember yourself. I find it invaluable to schedule out time for things that I love, like manis and pedis, taking the dogs for a walk, and of course the gym. These let my mind reset, recharge, and even get inspired along the way. Friends and family are extremely important to me, and if I loose time with them I get extremely upset. Make sure to spend time with the ones you love, it will help your productivity out in the long run!
Find a project management tool that works for you.
Just being honest here, I’m completely new to this whole “project management tools” thing. But after starting my own business, I realized it was something that I needed to become familiar with. Basically a project management tool is exactly as it sounds, and allows you to keep track of all of our projects, tasks, lists, etc. We are currently using Trello and love it. I’ve also heard about Basecamp and simply using Google Drive.
Schedule your social media.
I’ve talked about this before, as well as lots of other bloggers, but something that helps me out a ton is scheduling out my social media. I do everything for the blog on Monday’s, our clients on Tuesday, and Lt Grey on Wednesday. The scheduling tools that I use are mainly Hootsuite for Twitter and Ahalogy for Pinterest. We always schedule Facebook posts through the platform’s scheduling tools, only because with the algorithm it identifies the posts more.
Are you interested in trying out these organizational and productivity tips? I would love to hear how it goes, or even some tips of your own below in the comments! There’s also a lot of great offers out for Centrum® right now so make sure to check it out.
